Avdel Metal Finishing Limited now open to all
 

WELWYN GARDEN CITY – 28. July 2009 – In 2007, MHE Logistics was purchased by Avdel UK Limited to create Avdel Metal Finishing Limited (AMF). Since then, Avdel Metal Finishing has undergone extensive refurbishment and improvement. For many years, the facility has been the main plating supplier for Avdel’s quality rivets, which are purchased by some of the world’s biggest companies for use in their most demanding applications. High quality, reliable finishes are produced with intensive testing and inspection to ensure that our standards remain consistently high.
 

In July 2009, Avdel Metal Finishing will open its doors to new customers who require high quality metal finishing. The 40,000 square foot facility in Warrington, UK now has upgraded facilities to enable larger volumes of products to be finished for new clients. AMF is experienced with finishing the smallest of parts to a high standard. Capabilities include: Electroplating, Heat Treatment, Lubrication and Cleaning. The quality systems are fully approved and operate in accordance with ISO 9001.

The brochure outlines the full line of services that Avdel Metal Finishing offers, from pick-up through to packaging and delivery.
 

The Avdel Metal Finishing heat treatment facility includes belt and batch furnaces allowing large and small volumes to be heat treated. All AMF furnaces feature computerised control and full traceability of parameters to ensure the highest quality is maintained ideal for safety critical parts.
 

The wash facilities at AMF have the capacity to wash 20 tonnes of product per day. The machines use caustic or paraffin cleaners to ensure that each product is washed thoroughly.
 

The AMF facility includes three barrel-plating lines of varying capacity, which can provide industry-leading cost effectiveness, flexibility, speed and efficiency. Statistical Process Control is used on all solutions, pH and concentrations to allow certificates of conformity and full batch traceability to be produced. Platings by Avdel Metal Finishing include:
 

• Zinc Plating
• Trivalent Passivation
• ZinKlad® System (MacDermid Approved)
• Zinc Alloy Plating
• Nickel Alloy Plating
• Electroplated Tin
• Clear and Black Passivation
 

Avdel Metal Finishing is proud of its reputation for high quality products and service. To maintain that reputation, all parts are inspected at every step of the finishing process. A full-time plating chemist works in the dedicated, on-site laboratory to ensure all the plating mixes are kept to the highest standard. Processed parts can be tested to a number of international standards including:
 

• Vickers / Brinell / Rockwell hardness testing to industry standards BS 427, BS EN ISO 6507.1
• Tensile strength testing is carried out to BS EN 10002.1 (2001)
• Salt spray testing chamber to standards ASTM B117, DIN EN 150, NSS, AN53
• Solderability testing to J-STD-002C
 

Avdel Metal Finishing also uses state-of-the-art XRF machines to measure the plating thickness and composition.
