Announcing the new 3/8” Avdel® Monobolt® Rivet and 7287 Series Installation Equipment

WELWYN GARDEN CITY (UK) – 1 October 2008 - Avdel® has introduced the new Monobolt® 3/8” (10 mm) blind rivet. This multi-grip structural breakstem fastener creates a fully sealed joint with a visible lock. The rivet is specially designed to suit a wide range of applications for the automotive, commercial vehicle and general industrial markets where high shear and tensile strengths are needed. The Monobolt® rivet resists shear up to 26.37 kN and tension up to 17.55 kN. The fastener works along the same principles as the 6.4 mm and 4.8 mm Monobolt® rivet, one of Avdel’s most prestigious product lines. With a grip range between 3.1 and 15.8 mm, the 3/8’’ Monobolt® rivet is a truly versatile and reliable extension to the Monobolt® fastener range.

To further enhance the benefits of the 3/8’’ Monobolt® fastener, a new installation tool has been specially developed to greatly improve the combination of power and speed. The 7287 tool’s key feature is its ability to place large heavy duty rivets with just one press of the trigger. The extended stroke of 29 mm on the 7287 tool enables this single pull action as opposed to the two pull action necessary with many other tools on the market. Ilja Suchan, Avdel Marketing Manager, believes “Many other tools on the market are lacking the necessary power to install heavy duty fasteners in a single stroke which can compromise assembly times”.

The 7287 is hydro-pneumatic with a cycle time of just 1.7 seconds, 40% less than many of the rival tools on the market, making it the ideal tool for use in either batch production or on a flow line assembly. In many applications, the reduced cycle time can offer significant labour cost savings and increased assembly capacity due to better output. The 7287 places not only the new 3/8” Monobolt® rivet but also a wide variety of the Avdel® fastener range, including the unique Avseal® II sealing plugs, as well as Avdelok®, Avtainer® and Maxlok® lockbolts.

To increase operator comfort, the pistol weight has been kept as light as possible weighing under 2.5 kg. With a 3 m long hose the 7287 has the line side flexibility that many other tools cannot offer.
