Enhanced range for Avibulb® steel and Avinox® stainless steel fasteners

WELWYN GARDEN CITY – 13. August 2009 – Avdel® continues the expansion of its product portfolio with the development of the new enhanced 6.4 mm (¼”) Avibulb® steel and Avinox® stainless steel breakstem fasteners. These product range extensions will open up new applications in the following markets: automotive, truck and trailer, heating and ventilation, domestic appliances, industrial equipment and renewable energies.
 

The unique bulb formation, and a special patented stem and body geometry, create high shear and tensile performance data and an extremely wide grip range for a bulbing fastener of 4mm. Just two fastener part numbers cover a grip range from 1.5 to 9.0 mm (.059” to .354”), reducing stock holding and costs. The bulb formation also helps to create a weather resistant seal for a longer lasting and more reliable joint.
 

During installation, the large footprint provided by the blind side bulb formation ensures load spreading - ideal for soft or brittle materials - and durable strength. A typical residual clamp force of 2.0 kN (450 lbf) outperforms many other high-strength rivets. The wide grip range and hole tolerance increase versatility for demanding applications. Finally, the superb aesthetics of the installed fasteners is perfect for high-end finish applications.
 

For installation, Avdel® power tools with corresponding nose equipment are available - the Genesis® nG4 power tool is recommended.
